Markham Stouffville Hospital becomes the first in Canada to adopt Baxter Dynamo stretchers

Markham Stouffville Hospital is taking an important step forward in patient and caregiver safety with the introduction of Baxter Dynamo stretchers in its Emergency Department, making MSH the first hospital in Canada to implement this innovative technology.

Falls are the leading cause of injury-related hospitalizations and fatalities among individuals aged 65 and older in Canada. With an aging population on the rise, there is an urgent need to monitor fall trends and implement preventative strategies.

These new stretchers represent an important advancement in patient safety, with features designed to support fall prevention, safer patient handling, and more efficient emergency care.

Designed with patient and caregiver safety at the forefront, the Baxter Dynamo stretchers feature advanced fall prevention technology, including intelligent alarms and integrated scales, allowing clinicians to quickly and accurately obtain patient weights without requiring a transfer, supporting faster clinical decision-making, medication safety, and more efficient care in the emergency department.

Combined with ergonomic design that supports safer patient handling and transfers, the stretchers enhance safety for both patients and frontline staff while improving care in one of the hospital’s busiest clinical environments.
