Family Fun Day returns

York Region’s annual Family Fun Day open house returns on Saturday, May 23, from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.

Festivities start at 10:30 a.m. with a drum song performed by the Chippewas of Georgina Island First Nation.

The free community event promises fun for all ages while giving residents an opportunity to learn more about York Regional services and the people behind them. Visitors can explore regional trucks and equipment, ambulances, fire trucks, police vehicles, and interactive displays throughout the site. Families can also enjoy face painting, henna, children’s activities, mascot photo opportunities, and a $5 barbecue lunch in support of a local charity.

A popular feature returning this year is the Paint-a-Plow blade showcase, where attendees can vote for their favourite designs created by participating schools. Guests will also have the chance to participate in the York Region Transit bus wash and facility tour via shuttle.

The event takes place during National Public Works Week and Paramedic Services Week, celebrated from May 17 to 23. The week recognizes the dedication of Public Works and Paramedic Services staff who help keep communities safe and running smoothly every day. From maintaining roads and water systems to supporting emergency response efforts, environmental stewardship, and public safety, their work plays a vital role across the Region.

The event takes place at the York Region Public Works Operations Centre and Paramedic Services Building, located at 80 and 90 Bales Dr. E., just west of Warden Avenue on the north side of Davis Drive.
