Investigators with the York Regional Police #2 and #5 District Criminal Investigations Bureaus are seeking witnesses following two suspicious tow truck fires in the City of Richmond Hill and the Town of Whitchurch-Stouffville.
On Friday, November 27, 2020, shortly after 3:30 a.m., York Regional Police were called to a residence on Aladdin Crescent in the City of Richmond Hill for a report of a truck on fire. When officers arrived, they found a tow truck in the street, fully engulfed. The fire was extinguished by Richmond Hill Fire and Emergency Services. Investigators believe that the fire was intentionally set.
A short time later, at approximately 4 a.m., York Regional Police were called to a residence on Hoover Park Drive in the Town of Whitchurch-Stouffville for a report of a tow truck on fire. When officers arrived, they found that the fire had been extinguished by the driver of the truck and the damage was minimal. Investigators believe that this fire was also intentionally set.
Investigators are appealing to anyone who witnessed any suspicious activity in either area, or anyone with residential video surveillance that captured any suspicious activity to come forward.
