Beginning in April you will be able to buy beer and cider at the Stouffville Walmart.
The provincial government has announced its recent round of application approvals for alcohol sale in grocery stores and Walmart, at 1050 Hoover Park Dr., made the cut. In all, 87 new locations will be added to the inventory of 200 existing grocery stores that can sell alcohol. All had to go through a competitive bidding process to gain selling rights.
Starting in April, the local Walmart will be able to sell beer and cider in designated areas. It now joins Metro grocery store at 5612 Main St. (which also sells wine) as the only other non-LCBO or Beer Store to sell alcohol in Whitchurch-Stouffville.
Queen’s Park eventually aims to have 450 grocery stores that will sell beer and cider and up to 300 that will also sell wine.
