The Stouffville Spirit blue line got a boost on September 9th when the Sudbury Wolves announced they were reassigning Andre Anania to the Ontario Junior Hockey League (OJHL) club.

A fourth-round pick of the Wolves in the 2019 Ontario Hockey League Priority Selection, Anania was a member of the Toronto Red Wings minor midget club in the Greater Toronto Hockey League last season.

The 16-year-old, five-foot-11, 175-pound Richmond Hill native had six goals and 33 assists in 65 games with the Red Wings. Anania and Ryan Smith (Collingwood Colts), who was also assigned to the OJHL by the Wolves, drew praise from Sudbury general manager Rob Papineau.

“Both Ryan and Andre are great players who will be big parts of our future,” Papineau said. “However, at this time, they will benefit from more ice time and bigger roles on their teams this year in the OJHL.”

The Spirit return to action on Friday, September 13th when the hit the road to take on the Pickering Panthers. Game time is 7:30 p.m.
