The Stouffville Strawberry Festival is returning to Town and this year marks the 35th anniversary. Book your calendars for June 28-July 1 and plan for a great weekend of free entertainment. It kicks off Friday with the Opening Ceremonies and the “Made in Canada” music celebration; Saturday will feature a Down Home Country BBQ with an evening of Country Music; Sunday will offer a Local Artist Showcase (featuring rising artists from across York Region) and Monday will finish with a bang with the Blackboard Blues Band and a spectacular fireworks display. All the Festival organized entertainment and kids’ activities are free. The Festival organizers have partnered with the Town’s Economic Development Office in a program to encourage festival participants to visit community-wide businesses and attractions. From Main Street to Musselman’s Lake, visitors will have access to special value offerings to encourage purchases throughout the Stouffville community. Look for the value package in the Festival Guide and the Town’s OTR (On the Road) publication.
The 2019 volunteer team has made changes to the Festival layout, relocating activities and facilities to more weather-sheltered areas. According to Board Chair, Harry French, “This year we have a whole new look for vendors and activities – it will be easier to get around and to participate in all the activities available.” The “streetscape” layout will run down Park Street and end at the Marquee and Kids Activity Zone at the bottom end of Church Street Lane. Harry encourages volunteer efforts, “The Festival is a volunteer organization. On Festival days we need lots of hands-on-deck, so if you want to volunteer follow this link, I Want to Volunteer on our website.” For more information about the Festival, visit, strawberryfestival.ca.
