A Newmarket marijuana dispensary owner has been arrested for the second time in as many months.
In early July, York Regional Police received complaints from the community that Green Door Dispensary at 30B Main Street S. was open for business and illegally selling marijuana after its owner had been charged the previous month for trafficking marijuana.
Investigators executed a search warrant on July 25, seized a quantity of marijuana and arrested the owner of the business. Newmarket resident Gus Kouboules, 54, faces two counts of trafficking a controlled substance and two counts of possession for the purpose of trafficking.
In early June, police believed marijuana was being sold from the dispensary to anyone interested in purchasing and launched an investigation. They executed a search warrant on June 14, seized a quantity of marijuana and charged Kouboules with trafficking marijuana.
Following his latest arrest, Kouboules was held in custody for a court appearance on July 26. Anyone with information is asked to contact the Guns, Gangs and Drug Enforcement Unit at 1-866-876-5423, ext. 7817, Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-tips or leave an anonymous tip at 1800222tips.com.
