Whitchurch-Stouffville Public Library has a new chief executive officer, replacing the recently retired Carolyn Nordheimer James.

Margaret Wallace, who took up her appointment on Sept. 24, brings 30 years of library experience, primarily at Brampton Public Library, Oshawa Public Libraries and Durham College. Her most recent positions were collection management and access director at Oshawa Public Libraries and, before that, operations director.

Wallace is a past-president of the Oshawa Rotary Club and has been the recipient of many awards over the years for her community and charitable service. She has developed knowledge and expertise in all aspects of library operations including finance, human resources, information technology, strategic planning, policy, public relations, communications, customer service and health and safety.

“The library board and staff warmly welcome her to the library and to Stouffville and wishes her every success in her new role,” said library board chair Lloyd Pinnock.
