There were smiles all round recently as members of the Whitchurch – Stouffville Library Board met with local Stouffville Lion’s Club members to receive a $10,000 cheque from the Lion’s Club as part of their Centennial Legacy Project fund.

The donation will be used to help equip the soon to be expanded library with extra equipment that will not be included in the new library makeover and expansion being undertaken soon.   The Lions donation will be used to purchase two AfterSchool Edge computer systems which are Early Literacy Stations for ages 6-12 (   Legacy Projects are designed to help clubs connect with their communities and create a visible and lasting legacy for the Lions and the community.

Library Chief Executive Officer,  Carolyn Nordheimer James noted that “while the Library Board appreciates the Towns support and collaboration with the expansion project, we know that to be the well-equipped Library that the town needs, we will need some help from the community for the extras that will not fit with in the planned budget.  Thanks to the Lions Club of Stouffville for leading the way for the community with their support.”

She also goes on to ask that other community groups, residents and  business groups keep the library in mind for donations too, as the library has come to play a central role in the Town’s life but will still need support.
