Unleash your creativity at Latcham’s Free Family Art Days this June. Everyone is welcome to attend and all materials are provided. Children must be accompanied by an adult at all times.
Discover the “undercover” art project from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. on June 2 when the Latcham Gallery and public library team up for the grand opening of the Whitchurch-Stouffville Leisure Centre at 2 Park Drive with a “literary art piece.”
Participants of all ages will select a page out of a variety of available books to use as a canvas for their collage or illustration work. Using pen and ink, other decorative papers and pencil crayons, the written page will come to life with colour and imagination. “New Beginnings”is the proposed theme, but community artists can ultimately decide what they would like to create. A photo of each work will be taken and compiled into a digital book that will be made available on the Latcham Gallery and Whitchurch‐Stouffville Public Library websites.
The creativity continues from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. on June 9 during Art in the Park at Memorial Park. Families will make their own wearable headbands inspired by their favourite animals and creatures found in local parks and forests. Participants will then be invited to take a picture of themselves wearing their creation.
Free Family Art Days wrap up during the Strawberry Festival at Memorial Park from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. on June 30. Take a break from the hustle and bustle, grab a pencil or marker and awaken your inner artist.
