Have you ever been to one of those shows that everyone talks about for months afterwards? Well, the Johnny Max Band is just that show. And 19 on the Park is bringing the crowd favourite back as the final instalment of the 2018 Summer Patio Series.
Since his last trip to Stouffville, Johnny Max has been busy. The entire band has been whooping it up in Ireland on a full tour, including a stop at the Belfast City Blues Festival. It’s no surprise that Max is an international sensation. With a fistful of Maple Blues awards and two Juno nominations, the band is being recognized in the music industry for their talent.
To describe the band you’d have to mix together a dozen different genres, but the highlights include a heavy dose of Gumbo R&B, nods to Rock’em, Sock’em Soul and even a touch of Tom Waits.
As well, blockbuster and film festival movie choices on the recently updated projection system and 25-foot screen continue to be offered by 19 on the Park. On Aug. 8, the controversial movie Indian Horse, about a young indigenous hockey player, is being shown and from Aug. 23-25, it’s the box office hit Book Club, starring Diane Keaton, Jane Fonda and Candice Bergen.
Tickets for the Johnny Max Band or the films are available at 19onthepark.ca or by calling the box office at 905-640-2322.
