For the child that was born for the stage, 19 on the Park’s Young Actor’s Theatre Camp is the place to be this March break. Now in its eighth year, the stagecraft school, run by Motus O Dance Theatre, has become a staple for Stouffville’s budding actors.

Throughout its 27 years as a dance theatre company, Motus O has shown time and again that they are artistic visionaries on the stage.  Their passion for innovation on the stage combined with a solid background as educators give the camps a different feel than a traditional camp.  Motus O believes strongly in a philosophy of belonging (inclusion and respect of diversity), being (through discovery and teamwork) and becoming (through performing).  Those three elements ensure every child has a positive experience as they explore movement, voice and technique for the stage.

“Not all camps are able to offer actual performers as their camp directors,” says Ashley Chappell, 19 on the Park’s cultural facility supervisor, “This opportunity to learn from professionals who are making their living in the performance industry gives the campers a truly rare experience.”

Throughout the week, the campers will work together to build a quality show, complete with lighting and sound, presented on the Friday for family and friends. The camp is broken into two sections (ages 5-8 and 9-15) to ensure that participants work on progressive skills including stage presence and physical theatre.

Registration is open and can be found at or by calling the box office at 905-640-2322.
