The annual Mayor’s Dinner event held this year at Spring Lakes Golf Club has traditionally been a launch pad of sorts for mayors to lay down a detailed view of what they envision for the town and topics of interest to local business leaders in attendance. This event was no different with Mayor Iain Lovatt marking his first event of this kind since being elected last fall.
But this year also incorporated the reenergized Business Excellence Awards.
The mayor’s speech served as a fitting introduction to three awards that were presented to outstanding local businesses – one for small (under 20 employees), a large (over 20) and a special recognition award. The 2019 winners are: Trentadue Torres Real Estate Team for the small business award; Finlayson Hospitality (McDonald’s) for the large business award; and for the special recognition award given for outstanding contribution to the Whitchurch-Stouffville community, O’Neill’s Funeral Home got the nod.
