The new Ballantrae Field House has opened its doors next to tennis courts, soccer fields, a softball diamond and community centre. The facility offers a new venue for organizations and individuals to host events and functions.
Located at Ballantrae Park on Aurora Road, east of Hwy. 48, adjacent to Ballantrae Public School, the field house is the Town of Whitchurch-Stouffville’s newest rental facility. It features a common area, kitchenette and two change rooms with washroom facilities. Under construction for the past year and a half, the field house features 1,700 square feet of rental space.
“The community of Ballantrae has looked forward to this new building and it truly is a wonderful addition to the park,” said Scott Rose, town facilities manager. “The field house allows local sports organizations, such as softball, soccer and tennis groups, to hold indoor functions closer to the facilities that they currently play at. It will also be used for community events, programs and tournaments.”
As well, the building is fully accessible.
“We are proud to have this facility exceed provincial standards for accessibility,” said Rose. “This is a barrier-free building that all people can enjoy.”
