Spirit opens regular season at home

The Stouffville Spirit drop the puck on their 2017-2018 Ontario Junior Hockey League season at the Stouffville Arena Saturday, September 9 at 7:30pm against the Whitby Fury. The Spirit home schedule is dominated by Saturday night games again this season. Stouffville will face their rival, Markham Royals four times, along with Aurora and Newmarket five times. There are three-holiday matinees on Thanksgiving (Oct. 9), New Year’s Eve (Oct. 31) and Family Day (Feb. 19). Summitview Public School celebrates 100 years in current building

Part 1 in a series. The one room school belongs to an era in Canadian life that has largely vanished. The school was part of the community woven into the lives down through each generation. In the early days of Stouffville, schools are mentioned both on the Markham Township (south side) and Whitchurch Township (north side). Summitview has had many generations attend this school, possibly grandpa and grandma or even other older generations. Summer BBQ season, great time to meet politicos

Ah, summer. Time for sun, relaxation, barbeques and other fun events hosted by politicians and want-to-be politicians. This summer is no different as provincial candidates vie for their party’s nomination and elected ones get back to the grassroots, talking with the people who got them there.
