19 on the Park launches a year full of top-quality entertainment

This year’s season will see amazing talent including a member of Great Big Sea, Juno winners, a member of The Guess Who, a Rolling Stones Tribute, and some local professional performers with much more to come.

19 on the Park proudly launches its 8th season of professional entertainment with shows including dance, music and theatre. This year, the season has been carefully curated by Ashley Chappel, the Cultural Facility and Programming Coordinator for the facility.

“This is a season full to top-notch artists that Stouffville can be proud to host. We have a blend of music styles, some local performers on their way up, and a few big names we are excited are making their way to Stouffville.” says Chappell. “19 on the Park has been building a name for itself in the music industry over the last year or two as being a great venue that artists want to perform in. They love the acoustics, the intimate setting, and the engaged audiences.”

The season launches on Feb. 18 with Séan McCann, one of the members of the renowned group Great Big Sea. With millions of albums sold, countless hit songs and record-breaking world tours over 20 years, McCann is now stepping out on his own with a solo career that is meant to sincerely connect with audiences. After battling his own demons involving abuse and alcohol addiction, he now uses his music to heal and bring happiness. “I really believe music can save your life,” says McCann. “Songs enabled me to face those things I kept secret, face them soberly and deal with them.” The Newfoundland-born singer-songwriter hits Stouffville’s stage at 8pm, tickets are $35-$39.

For families, or the child in us all, Motus O Dance Theatre will be presenting their adaptation of the classic fable Alice in Wonderland, simply titled ALICE on March 5 at 2pm. This one-hour, high energy show contains a level of excitement that will leave you breathless. The talented and seasoned dancers of Motus O bring to life each beloved character in an event that is as much a triathlon as it is dance and theatre. Motus O dance theatre has been touring world-wide for over 25 years, and are proud to call Stouffville and 19 on the Park their ‘home base’. This show is great for all ages of children and those who are young at heart. Tickets are $20-29 or $75 for a family of 4.

All shows are on sale now with special early bird pricing that is only available until Feb. 15. Chappell recommends that people plan out their year now. “We want our patrons to plan their year out – to make time for real-time, in person experiences with music, dance and theatre. It’s a chance to take a breath in a world that seems to always be in motion.” says the Cultural Facility and Programming Coordinator. “19 on the Park relies on the community to support and keep its doors open. We need ticket purchases and sold out shows to prove to the ‘nay-sayers’ that live entertainment is alive and well and wanted in our community, and that 19 on the Park will never become irrelevant.”
