A special theatre event is in store when “19 on the Park” presents their 2018 season opener at the Lebovic Centre for Arts and Entertainment.

“Books, stories and song: an evening with Carl Dixon and Ron Sexsmith,” pairs the internationally-renowned songwriters and performers, who will share the stage for the first time. This is your chance to hear the stories behind the songs and meet the creative men behind the stories.

But it’s not only songwriting they use to express themselves. Both are published book authors as well. Sexsmith’s debut novel, Deer Life – A Fairy Tale, hit the shelves this year, while Dixon’s autobiography, Strange Way to Live: A Story of Rock ‘n’ Roll Resurrection, takes readers on an intimate journey through the ups and downs of his own life. Each will read from their books and bring the words to life. The two, who are close friends off stage, tell their stories with a sense of humour and familiarity that usually happens in the dead of night and, usually, only after a few drinks are flowing. And, of course, neither can hit a stage without picking up their guitars and sharing a few of their songs, just to emphasize the point.

The show begins at 8 p.m. on Feb. 10 at the Lebovic Centre for Arts and Entertainment, 19 Civic Avenue, Stouffville. Call the box office at 905-640-2322 for tickets.
