36 groups receive money from Mayor’s Community Fund

The Mayor’s Community Fund mission is to be a not-for-profit organization that is created to improve the wider community of the area of Whitchurch-Stouffville and York Region; to encourage the goodwill and involvement of the greater community; and to foster positive community spirit and encourage civic pride. The Mayor’s Community Fund presented $36,000 to 36 local community groups in honour of their contribution to our community. Spirit looking to cement playoff spot

The Stouffville Spirit had an average month of December winning four games, losing four, and tying one earning  10 points in 9 games.   The Spirit opened the month with three wins and a tie which included an 18-2 win against the Milton IceHawks. Spirit forward, Thomas Tinmouth, made the most out of that game scoring two goals and adding three assists.   The Spirit followed that up with three straight losses to finish the month. Anthem singer performs for more than the Spirit

She’s the little girl with the big voice who kicks off Stouffville Spirit home games. Sydnee Guglietti, 10, is a Grade 5 student at Summitview Public School on Main Street. It’s her second season as anthem singer at Jr. A games at the Stouffville Arena. Dressed in a Stouffville hockey jersey and tuque, she leads the crowd in O Canada. Hockey runs in her family. Frostfire fireworks light up town sky at local family event

On Dec. 3 families kicked off the holiday season with a bang, with frostfire fireworks held at Stouffville Memorial Park.   Local community organization Tiny Seedlings organized a fireworks spectacular for families in the community. The park was filled with a high energy from the start, with top hits playing from the Tiny Seedlings booth and children dancing all night long.   Throughout the night, families were also given free cups of hot chocolate, and several prizes were handed out to lucky winners who had a winning sticker on their cup.
