Parking permit program rolls out in downtown Stouffville

  The Town of Whitchurch-Stouffville unveiled its new parking permit program last month in portions of four downtown Stouffville parking lots.   The new permit system, approved by Whitchurch-Stouffville’s council in April, was part of the comprehensive On-Street Residential and Commercial Parking Study conducted over the course of the last year and a half.   As part of the study, council approved the need for the new permits, along with new signage and wayfinding, better customer service practices to help citizens with their parking concerns, and more consistent parking enforcement.   Stouffville has three hour free parking on most...

Town launches new economic, communications newsletter

The Town of Whitchurch-Stouffville has taken the bold move of replacing its weekly information pages in local newspapers with a monthly newsletter named On the Road.   The first issue of the newsletter was mailed out via Canada Post the week of November 14 to every household and business within Whitchurch-Stouffville – over 15,800 addresses. Beyond Craft Show and Sale

The eighth annual Beyond Craft Show and Sale runs from November 10th to the 13th at the 19 on the Park.   The juried show is hosted by the Latcham Gallery and will include 30 artisans from across Ontario, as well as Whitchurch-Stouffville.   The opening night is November 10th, from 6 to 9 p.m., and is a special night for those in attendance. Sosin family get hand up, not hand out

More than 200 volunteers from the Stouffville community rolled up their sleeves and helped the Sosin family build their modest, affordable bungalow as part of a five-week Habitat for Humanity GTA Blitz Build that began in late August.  Community businesses, organizations and faith groups also rallied together to provide both financial and volunteer support of the Stouffville Main Street build including, Markham-based Geranium Corporation, Silvio Construction, and many other donors, as well as local churches. Stouffville chef and baker ‘cooking’ the competition

    Fresh off creating the Guinness World Record for the largest butter tart, Stouffville baker and chef Marco Cassano is headed to the Royal Chef Challenge in November.   Cassano, the owner of Annina’s Bakeshop in Goodwood, recently competed in The Road to The Royal Chef Challenge at the Markham Fair in October.   Cassano took on two other chefs in two 30-minute rounds – one round for an entrée and one for dessert.   “I just went into the competition doing what I do every day; cooking, not really thinking about that it was a competition.
